Building Labours
Indian building labours are the backbone of the construction industry in India. They work hard to build houses, offices, roads, bridges and other structures. They are mostly unskilled workers who come from rural areas and migrate to urban centres in search of employment. They face many problems such as low wages, long working hours, unsafe working conditions, lack of social security and health care, exploitation by contractors and middlemen, and harassment by authorities. They are also vulnerable to accidents, injuries and diseases.
The government has enacted laws and schemes to protect and welfare of the building labours, but their implementation is poor and inadequate
